Whilst many students were preparing debates, others were experimenting with dishes to delight the judges in a fabulous end of term competition: MASTERCHEF. The event was organised by the amazing Mrs Sims, to whom we extend a massive THANK-YOU for the untold hard work she has put into this venture.
The competition was hugely popular - attracting would-be chefs from across all year groups - and was fiercely contested. Nonetheless, as with all competitions, there could only be one winner, and this year the accolade of Masterchef 2011 was accorded Ben Calcutt of 7B.

Congratulations to Ben and a massive thank you to everyone who participated and helped in any way. A special thanks is extended to the various judges, and in particular to those who officiated in the final - a very tense occasion, indeed!

And here is what Ben had to say about the experience:

When I found out that I had won I couldn’t believe it. The rest of the contestants had produced excellent food and I thought that they had a really good chance of winning. But in the end it was me who took the title. Nick Wall, Mr Morris, Mrs Sims and other judges congratulated me and said the food was delicious. I made pea puree with chorizo and salmon. Then pasta with a creamy mushroom sauce and lemon chicken followed by a strawberry fool. Mr Pemberton said that the strawberry fool was lovely.
